Adrienne (Lane) is looking after her friend's to-die-for B&B on a deserted North Carolina beach. The only guest is Dr Paul Flanner (Gere), a plastic surgeon of the troubled-but-handsome variety. They have a lot in common: they are both single, and their kids hate them. Also, there is no one else to talk to and a hurricane is bearing down on them. Shamelessly manipulative but a little short and sketchy to provide a good wallow, Nights in Rodanthe has to make do with Lane's sympathetic presence and Gere's squinty emoting. That and the most eye-catching beachfront property you will see all year.
