Government money has been 'flushed away'

There will be few tears that the country's nine regional development agencies have been chosen to make the necessary sacrifices to bankroll Gordon Brown's housing initiative.

For waste, junketing, white elephants and bureaucracy, no one comes close to these big beasts of the quangocracy.

The TaxPayers' Alliance reckons they have flushed away £15 billion of public money in the past nine years and achieved nothing.

That may be an exaggeration, but ministers needing to divert public money to more urgent projects could have done a lot worse.

Only £15 billion? Labour have doubled public spending to over £500 billion per year with no improvement in public services, plus they are borrowing over £50 billion per year more than they are receiving from already incresed taxes. They have wasted 100's of £billions.
