The Queen, Duke of Lancaster today received the Lord Shuttleworth (Chairman of the Duchy of Lancaster) and Mr. Paul Clarke (Chief Executive).
Mr. Justice Plender was received by The Queen upon his appointment as a Justice of the High Court when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Bachelor.
Mr. Laurence Hill (winner of the 2008 Commonwealth Writers Prize) was received by The Queen.
Mr. Mark Collins (Director of the Commonwealth Foundation) was present.
Her Majesty, Colonel-in-Chief, The Queen’s Royal Lancers, received Lieutenant Colonel Richard Nixon-Eckersall upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant Colonel Martin Todd upon assuming the appointment.
Sir Anthony Figgis was received by The Queen upon relinquishing his appointment as Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps.
Captain Charles Malet was received by Her Majesty upon relinquishing his appointment as Assistant Equerry to The Queen.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave an Afternoon Party in the Garden of Buckingham Palace for delegates of the Lambeth Conference.
The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty.
The Bands of the Scots Guards and The Prince of Wales’s Division played selections of music during the afternoon.
The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, this afternoon held a Reception at St. James’s Palace.

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon visited Milton’s Cottage, Deanway, Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire, to mark the Four Hundredth Anniversary of the birth of John Milton.
