The Queen, Duke of Lancaster today received the Lord Shuttleworth (Chairman of the Duchy of Lancaster) and Mr. Paul Clarke (Chief Executive).

Mr. Justice Plender was received by The Queen upon his appointment as a Justice of the High Court when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Bachelor.

Mr. Laurence Hill (winner of the 2008 Commonwealth Writers Prize) was received by The Queen.

Mr. Mark Collins (Director of the Commonwealth Foundation) was present.

Her Majesty, Colonel-in-Chief, The Queen’s Royal Lancers, received Lieutenant Colonel Richard Nixon-Eckersall upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant Colonel Martin Todd upon assuming the appointment.

Sir Anthony Figgis was received by The Queen upon relinquishing his appointment as Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps.

Captain Charles Malet was received by Her Majesty upon relinquishing his appointment as Assistant Equerry to The Queen.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave an Afternoon Party in the Garden of Buckingham Palace for delegates of the Lambeth Conference.

The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty.

The Bands of the Scots Guards and The Prince of Wales’s Division played selections of music during the afternoon.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, this afternoon held a Reception at St. James’s Palace.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited Bletchley Park National Codes Centre, Bletchley, Milton Keynes, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire (Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, Bt.).

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon visited Milton’s Cottage, Deanway, Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire, to mark the Four Hundredth Anniversary of the birth of John Milton.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Wooden Spoon Society, this afternoon opened a kitchen at Downside Fisher Youth Club, Coxson Place, Druid Street, London SE1, and was received by Mrs. Anthony Bianco (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Princess Royal, Royal Master of the Bench, the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, later attended Call Night at Temple Church and Courtyard, Treasury Office, Inner Temple, London EC4.

His Royal Highness, Patron, the Royal Academy Schools, this afternoon attended a fund-raising Luncheon at Château St. Julien D’Aille, Viadauban.

The Duke of Gloucester this evening arrived at Heathrow Airport, London, from France. Captain Benjamin Sempala-Ntege was in attendance.

His Royal Highness this evening attended a Dinner in honour of The Sultan of Oman at Kew Palace, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Surrey.
