Q Can you recommend a reasonably priced, easily available fibre-tip eyeliner?

A Fibre-tip eyeliners are brilliant if you like a precise line but can’t quite get to grips (who can?) with traditional liquid eyeliners. They also last longer than pencils (although I would say that Urban Decay’s 24/7 Eyeliner is more than a match for any liquid liner).

The best fibre-tip to have crossed my desk recently is Shiseido’s Fine Eyeliner (£24, 020-7313 4774). It has many virtues – they’ve thought of everything. Firstly, the “ink” dries quickly and lasts all day – but it’s water-based, so easily removed. Secondly, it is ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested, so you shouldn’t have any problems with irritation. Thirdly, it’s refillable – cartridges cost £14 and you can buy them at any Shiseido counter. Not that you’ll need many: I’ve had mine for about three months and it’s still going strong.
