The battle for Arsenal could hot up again after David Dein resigned as chairman of Red and White Holdings. The former Arsenal vice-chairman, who left the Emirates Stadium 18 months ago, sold his 14 per cent stake in the club for £75 million to Alisher Usmanov and became the chairman of the Russian billionaire’s bid vehicle, Red and White Holdings.
Usmanov’s stake of just under 25 per cent makes him the club’s largest shareholder, but the Arsenal board does not welcome him and agreed not to sell shares until 2012 to fend him off. Dein was forced out of Arsenal after courting foreign investors, such as Stan Kroenke, from the United States. He is leaving Red and White Holdings to improve relations between Arsenal and Usmanov and could be offered a job by Fifa or Uefa.
“We want the club to stay in its current ownership,” Peter Hill-Wood, the Arsenal chairman, said. “The directors don’t want to sell, but we are a public company. It depends on the price.”

Arsenal dont need to sell to Russians, Americans or anyone else. If big money is moving into football then big money must be there to be made with the coming of the Euro League so why should the current board, for the clubs and their interests, not want to remain in control and make big money too!
David Ashton, Bedford, UK
Among the big 4 in England, Arsenal are the only one who isn't under foreign hands and i think it is something good as it shows that we don't need large sums of money to play beautiful football. All agree that Arsenal's football is the best in Europe and as fans we should be really proud of it.

David Dein had the vision a long time ago that foreign and wealthy individuals or groups would carve up the Premier League. If he were to be judged based upon his vision, it is clear he should be running Arsenal. The current owners of Arsenal are only fighting time and trends--for now! Go Arsenal!
Tom, USA,
The worst thing for Arsenal would be to have David Dein back. He always looks out for himself first and Arsenal second. His only interest is power and becoming chairman of Arsenal which is why he tried selling the club behind the other directors' backs.
Chris, London,
if chelsea can't compete financially with man city then usmanov money may only push us from 4th or 5th to 2nd or 3rd. I would prefer a proud 5th than a sellout 2nd.In Arsene we trust.

Thwe best thing for Arsenal Football Club is to have David Dein running the thing again. Its been a shambles and a frustration for all since he went
