How do I get Times Mobile on my mobile phone?
There are two ways to access Times Mobile.
1) Go to the web application on your mobile phone menu (sometimes listed as 'browser'), choose enter address (or 'web address' or 'go to' ) and type in: timesmobile.mobi - you don't need to put www. in front of this address - and press OK. You should then see Times Mobile appear on your phone's screen.
OR
2) Go to the text messaging application on your phone and text the word Times (this is not case sensitive so you can use caps and/or lower case ) to 86626. We will then send a text message to your phone that contains the web address of Times Mobile. Your mobile should offer you the option to highlight, or 'mark', the address and then to 'bookmark' it. The address will then appear under bookmarks in your web application or browser and you can simply click on it to get Times Mobile. When you want to revisit Times Mobile, you can go back to bookmarks to find it easily.
Can I get it on any mobile phone?
You need to make sure your handset is 'internet-capable' - ie that you can access the web on it - in order to get Times Mobile.
Most recent handsets do offer a web browser but check with the shop when you set up a contract that this is incorporated in the deal.
If you have tried to access Times Mobile on your mobile and failed to do so, contact your provider and check if your mobile phone does have access to the web and if it is enabled.
What is available on Times Mobile?
Times and Sunday Times newspaper stories are available on your mobile from midnight BST approx. every day. Times Online's breaking news and updates are available on your mobile as they appear on the Times Online website.
You can read the latest world, UK, business, sports, arts and entertainment, technology and politics news as well as film, stage and other entertainment reviews from the Times. You can just browse headlines or click on a headline to read the story in full.
Our free location-based Going Out Guide tells you what entertainment, restaurants and services are available to you wherever you are and gives you recommendations from Times experts.
There is also a job search that allows you to access all vacancies in the Times database.
We also offer real-time football scores and the Times Crossword Club as subscription services.
You can get more detail about all the above from this page .
What does the Times Mobile service cost?
Times Mobile is free but your provider may charge a fee for receiving text messages, check your contract or call your provider's helpdesk.
Depending on the contract you have, certain costs for accessing the internet on your phone - usually referred to as 'data' charges - may apply.
Call your provider to ask about the potential charges before trying to access Times Mobile. You may find some costs are included in your existing plan or that you can opt for a 'data package' or 'data packet' monthly fee that gives reduced charges for accessing the internet.
You will be charged an initial 25p (for the service access SMS) to use our mobile entertainment guide. Times crosswords on mobile is a subscription service (£4.50 a month with a free trial month) as is our football scores service, you can get full details of the football service here .
Is Times Mobile available on all networks?
Yes.
Is it available worldwide?
Yes, via timesmobile.mobi
Will it cost me more to access abroad?
You may be charged 'roaming' fees while abroad, ie a foreign mobile provider charges your provider in the UK a charge for your use of its network. Your provider will then pass this on to you.
Roaming charges can be expensive so always check potential charges for accessing Times Online abroad with your provider before travelling. If you are an American in the US then you'll just be charged a base charge (if you have a pay-as-you-go option).
