An authentic sand between the toes holiday

The Lock family enjoy the chance to stay at the sand castle on the beach, the first and largest sand castle hotel ever to be built in the UK

Weymouth A hotel right on the beach and with stunning sea views is available to Britons holidaying at home for only £10 a night.

The offer is open only until it next rains, however, as the hotel is made of sand.

And the mess left by sleeping on a sand bed will have to be washed off in the sea, as the hotel has no shower.

Mark Anderson, 42, a sand sculptor, and three friends spent 14 hours a day for a week building the 10ft (3m) structure at Weymouth, Dorset.

It was commissioned by laterooms.com after research predicted that 37 million people will visit British beaches this year.
